The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet officially announced the 2022 IPL Match dates. As per the reports, IPL 2022 will be scheduled from 2nd April 2022 to 3rd June 2022.

BCCI is planning to organize all IPL 2022 matches in India this year but the board has not released the IPL schedule yet. Since corona cases are increasing rapidly in India, there are chances of delay in the 15th edition of IPL.

The first match of Indian Premier League 2022 will likely be held on April 2 2020 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkatta Knight Riders (KNR) at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium Chennai.

Tentative dates of the IPL 2022 Schedule are mentioned in the below-shared table so mark the dates in your calendar. 

There are 74 T-20 matches are conducted in this year’s IPL tournament where 10 teams will compete. As we all know that IPL teams are based out of Indian cities so BCCI is going to introduce 2 more teams Ahmedabad and Lucknow.

The board has already given a formal clearance to both the teams (Ahmedabad and Lucknow) and the official names will be Lucknow Nawabs and Ahmedabad Loins.

Note: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not released the official schedule for the IPL 2022 yet.

IPL 2022 Mega Auction Dates

The IPL Chairman Mr Brajesh Patel has confirmed that the IPL 2022 Team Auction will take place on 12 & 13 February 2022. He also said that the franchises of two new teams (Ahmedabad & Lucknow) will join the league that making it a 10 team T-20 tournament.

BCCI has organized this auction event in Bengaluru but venue details are yet to be disclosed. The board has given the instructions that all the franchisees have to reach Bangalore on 11th Feb to complete pre- auction formalities.

IPL chairman has also told that TATA Group will be the main sponsor of the tournament. Tata has replaced the Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo with the title of cash-rich league sponsor.

Indian Premier League 2022 Match Format

Since 2011, BCCI is using Double Round-robin and Knockout format for all the IPL matches. In 2022, the format will remain the same. As per the format, 10 teams will be divided into two groups Group A & Group B. Each team from both groups will play 2 matches within the group.

Total of 70 group stage matches gonna played and 4 playoff matches.

IPL Points Table 2022

During the tournament, teams get points for every win and lose. Once the tournament starts, points will be updated on the IPL points table. This table basically shows the performance of 0teams within the IPL.

The IPL points table is considered at the time of tie-up between two teams. Points are given in a below-listed manner.

– 1 point for each team in case of a no-result match.
